In The Skyline, Skyline…..

Well, after the great finger sawing episode, which eliminated any reasonable writing for a while, I’m back at the keyboard.  In fairness the finger was usable on Saturday and I took the bandage off and it had healed pretty well.  Unfortunately for me (well, my writing not me) we went to Butlins in Skegness on Friday for a long weekend break and even though I took my laptop with me, fully intending to do some writing when the kids were in bed of an evening, things didn’t go exactly to plan.

We’ve been to Butlins before (several times over the last few years in fact) and we always have a nice – if exhausting – time, but this is the first year that the kids have stayed up for a large portion of the evening entertainment (they’re usually only interested in some of the kids stuff, but this year they’ve been more interested in other entertainment).  As a consequence we didn’t get back to the apartment until half nine every night.  By the time they’d actually gone to bed it was close to ten and since we were pretty exhausted after the days activities we tended to crash as well so that precluded any writing.

Given that I generally write something every day I’m kind of out of touch with what happens in the story (the Skyline Gang can do that for you – and not in a bad way, I’ve been singing ‘In The Skyline’ all day), so I’ll go back tonight and re-read the previous chapters and pick up the thread again.  I’m actually really looking forward to it, and while I haven’t had much chance to miss it while we’ve been away I suddenly realised when we got home today that I’m keen to get back to the story and pickup where we left off, it’s as though they’re my friends that I can’t wait to catch up with after the holiday.

So Sam, Laura, James, Pete, Hannah and Alex I’ll be giving you a call real soon, and let’s get together again.  Just not tonight, I’ve been Butlin’d to the point of exhaustion!  Oh and just as a warning – I’m laying the rest of the Laminate floor tomorrow.
